What it does

The page weight checker loads the page and the files it asks for, adds up their sizes by type and lists the biggest ones. Heavy pages load slowly on phones and cost visitors data.

How to use it

  1. 1Type the address of a page.
  2. 2Look at the chart and the biggest files.
  3. 3Resize images, remove unused scripts and turn on compression.

Questions

What is a good size?

Under about 1.5 MB feels fast on a phone connection. Over 3 MB is heavy.

Why does it differ from my browser?

We measure the files as sent, without compression, and do not run scripts, so files that scripts load later are not counted.

Are all files measured?

Up to 60 files per page. If there are more, the total is shown as a minimum.
